Public Health Administration

​The main goal of public health tasks and services is providing integrated and comprehensive preventive and reinforcement health care at the highest levels while controlling and preventing Infectious diseases in the community, infections acquired in health facilities, early response to public health threats and epidemics, preparing submitting performance reports and required data.

Public health management programs and services:

• Program to control infectious diseases and disease vectors

• Health care program in prisons and deportation homes 

• National Expanded Immunization Program 

• Health facility infection control program 

• Environmental health program 

• Continuing medical education and training 

• Field public health teams

 • Rapid intervention teams and field surveillance of infectious disease cases and outbreaks ( RRT )

Program to control infectious diseases and disease vectors

It includes all infectious diseases that may affect humans or diseases transmitted between humans and animals through epidemiological monitoring, passive and active surveillance, follow-up, daily, monthly, quarterly and annual statistics, and a reporting system according to the regulatory directives in that regard. Of these programs:

1- Polio Eradication Program: It aims to keep the Kingdom free of polio through the continuation of basic vaccinations for children and to ensure that the Kingdom is free of the polio virus by examining any case of sudden flaccid paralysis under the age of 15 years or any case that the doctor suspects as a case of polio. age 15 years and above

2- The Measles, Rubella and Mumps Elimination Program aims to eliminate measles, rubella and mumps through vaccination, research and investigation of cases according to the definition of a suspected case.

3- The National AIDS Control Program : It aims to activate the executive regulations of the acquired immunodeficiency (AIDS) prevention system issued by Royal Decree No. (M/41) dated 4/15/1438 and to follow up on pregnant women in accordance with the prevention system by imposing an AIDS screening test for pregnant women. The program also deals with infected cases, complete confidentiality.

4- Sexually transmitted infection control program: by registering, following up, and submitting statistics for all cases of sexually transmitted infections, whether male or female.

5- Syphilis program among pregnant women, newborns, and blood donors: It includes screening pregnant women for syphilis, screening newborns to mothers infected with syphilis, and syphilis screening for blood donors.

6- Dengue and hemorrhagic fevers program : It includes field investigation, participation of relevant authorities, and periodic follow-up.

7- Malaria Control Program: It aims to reduce the number of malaria cases to a minimum, control the disease, and prevent its entrance into the Kingdom .

8- Rabies and Animal Bites Program: It aims to monitor rabies disease by monitoring and reporting cases of animal bites, vaccinating all cases with both serum and vaccine, and informing the Ministry of Agriculture via a reporting form to take the necessary action against the biting animal.

9- The National Program to Eliminate Viral Hepatitis: Especially Virus C through screening of target groups in hospitals and health centers and treatment of those infected according to the protocol, and Virus B through early detection and follow-up.

10- Program for emerging respiratory diseases: including all types of Corona virus disease and emerging epidemic respiratory diseases.

11- Seasonal influenza station monitoring program: It is based on influenza surveillance in selected health centers with the aim of providing accurate and reliable data to make the health system more prepared for seasonal influenza epidemics.

12- HESN Plus Program: The approved program as a source for reporting all infectious diseases through follow-up and training

13-HEWS Program: The early health warning program, through which infectious diseases and emergency cases are detected early and visits health facilities to quickly take the necessary preventive measures for them.

14- Ports Program: This relates to the King Khalid International Airport port regarding preventive measures for imported diseases.

15- Travelers' health program and travel clinics: in selected health centers of the Second Health Cluster

16- Program for examining expatriates for work: according to approved protocols

17-Tuberculosis control program: Through the specialized clinic in a health center selected from the cluster centers to receive cases, follow them up, dispense the necessary treatment for them, and identify those who have been in contact.

Health care program in prisons and deportation homes

• Based on the list of preventive measures and the protocol for comprehensive examination of infectious diseases for inmates in prisons and deportation homes

• Implementing active and passive epidemiological surveillance inside prisons within the scope of the second Riyadh health cluster

 • Follow up on the implementation of the necessary preventive measures and health awareness towards those who have been in contact, in cooperation with workers in prison medical clinics.

 • Directing infected people to treatment to prevent transmission of infection and prevent complications

• Preparing and submitting weekly and monthly statistics to the Ministry of Health

• Clinical examination of new inmates and tuberculosis examination

 • Preventive immunizations for inmates and prison staff​

National immunization program 

t includes statistics, field visits, and follow-up of vaccinations in general, Including:

 • Basic vaccinations for children 

 • Vaccinating women of reproductive age with the MMR vaccine

 • Human Papilloma Virus Vaccination for girls (ages 9-26)

 • Shingles vaccination • Adult vaccinations include: (meningitis, hepatitis B)

 • Vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza ((Hajj and winter seasons))

 • Vaccination of pregnant women with T dap vaccine

 • Vaccination with Streptococcus pneumoniae vaccine PCV13.

- In addition to monitoring the adverse effects of vaccines and a vigilance platform, supply chain and vaccine safety

Infection control in health facilities Supervisory visits program for primary health care centers

 • Conducting field visits to primary health care centers at a rate of a quarterly periodic visit to each center to inspect infection control standards and the extent of adherence to them, monitor the inventory of infection control supplies, and evaluate dental clinics, blood draw departments, and sterilization departments (in some centers) and the availability of the necessary requirements in them. 

• A hand hygiene program to measure the extent of health practitioners’ compliance​

• Conducting lectures and workshops to train coordinators in the centers.

• Pixel lectures and training for Hajj delegate participants

 • Epidemiological surveillance among health practitioners​

Environmental health program 

It includes the following programs:

• Medical waste program 

• Food safety program 

• Chemical and drug safety program

 • Environmental sanitation program

Including statistics, field visits and follow-up.

continuing medical education and training

​• By conducting lectures, training courses, and workshops periodically, whether in person or via zoom meeting to raise the efficiency of workers and coordinators in health facilities affiliated with the Second Riyadh Health Cluster.

Field public health teams 

• Field teams work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week regarding epidemiological investigation of cases of infectious diseases or the participation of relevant authorities in field visits or vaccination.

• The rapid intervention team, which was established based on the directives of the Ministry of Health, represented by the Ministry’s Crisis and Disaster Management Department, by creating a national team for rapid response to public health emergencies in the second Riyadh health cluster.
